Boat Building Materials

Throughout the month of March, we will be exploring the topic "Buoyancy and Boats". As part of this learning, students will be designing and constructing boats. Students will be looking at materials that float and sink, how to make floaters sink, and sinkers float. They should be able to help you collect appropriate items to build a boat that floats (and is stable, and carries a load) once we begin learning in the unit.

Please collect boat building materials and bring them to class no later than Monday, March 9th, in a bag or box labeled with your child's name. (You may send in items early.)

Boat Building Materials
- one roll of tape (masking or duct tape). Please label the inside of the roll with your child's name.

- other building materials that you collect may include: cardboard, plastic lids, styrofoam pieces, bubble wrap, straws, corks, popsicle sticks, small sticks no longer than 30 cm, tinfoil, wax paper, saran wrap, cardboard tubes, material scraps, freezer bags, any other items you would like to send along.

Thank you for your support with this project.
