Collect items for Building

Waaaaaayyy in the future, two whole months away at the end of February in fact, we will begin our third and last "design and build" task in Science. We will be eventually learning about "Buoyancy and Boats". Construction tasks will involve building objects that float, are stable in water, and will carry a load.

The reason I'm letting you know ahead of time, other than the fact that I am super excited about it and couldn't wait to share (!), is because Christmas can be an excellent time to start finding and collecting appropriate materials. These can just be stored in your closet or basement and added to as you find a great material to help the building project.

I wonder what students will collect over the next few months that won't get wet in the water, and will help a craft to float and be stable? Bubble wrap? Styrofoam? Plastic?
