October 28th

The grade 2 classes are working on prairie poems for the month of November. Today we listened to some poetic lines about our prairie community. As a class we talked about the images we saw in our mind when we heard these prairie descriptions. After, students were given two choices of prairie descriptions to respond to with their own illustration sketch.

Choice 1) "Winds were always blowing and the grass seemed to sing and whisper."
Choice 2) "Enormous sky and land you couldn't see the end of, soaked in sunlight."

How it relates to the curriculum:
Students must “respond to mood established in a variety of oral, print, and other media.”
Students must “identify words in oral, print, and other media text that crate clear pictures or impressions of sight and sound.”
